Oct 7 2011: Six Negative Images of London Cinemas Showing Films by Erroll Flynn and Charles Boyer (1938)

Following yesterday’s fifteen images showing late 1930s Paris and London cityscapes, monuments and other urban features, all seen in the black light of negatives, these six further images from the same batch cluster around cinema facades (here showing hoardings where Erroll Flynn’s ‘Robin Hood’ and Charles Boyer’s ‘Algiers’ are advertised – both released in 1938, so useful in dating the images themselves) and – as a slight digression – illuminated advertising signs, here for Nicholson’s Gin and (perhaps appropriately) Kodak, the company which manufactured the film on which these negatives are printed.
