Oct 12 2011: Electronic Themes and Music Concrete Recorded by F.C. Judd (Castle EFX-2, 1960s)

A kind of companion piece to the earlier entry on Tom Dissevelt’s Electronic Movements, this 45rpm EP featuring four tracks recorded by F.C. Judd appears to be the second in a series. Issued by the Castle label sometime in the mid-1960s, at a guess, Electronic Themes and Music Concrete features four pieces of music, all abstract and electronic in nature. Two – Delta F and Study in Sinetones – emphasise the electronics, while the reverse side pieces, Sound Object and Montage – offer variations on a Music Concrete theme. The Castle label is listed on the sleeve’s reverse as being linked to a company called Recorded Tuition Limited, based in Woodford, E17, and it seems likely that the company, label and composer may all be the same person, F.C. Judd him (or her) self. It would be fascinating to find out more, if anyone knows anything about any of these activities, or has heard the first or any later EP releases in the same series.

Thanks for the information – seems a lot more has been posted online and been released from his back catalogue since I first found this EP!
