Dec 15 2011: Ten Photographs Showing Snow at Wollaton Park, Nottingham (c.1960s)
Ten images taken in the grounds of Wollaton Park in Nottingham, probably by an amateur photographer in the later 1960s or early 1970s, judging by the print, paper and various hints of evidence, such as clothing, that can be gleaned from within the pictures themselves. Given their snowy theme, perhaps this suite can be seen as the first window in a sort of Serendipity Project advent calendar that will run until December 25th. I can’t promise every window will present such an obviously festive scene, but there will be some link to the seasonal theme in each item featured, even if at times we’ll be stretching the point a lot, and perhaps getting very oblique indeed. But for today, at least, here’s an indisputably wintry starting point.
